Landscape Paradise

Roughly another month has passed since I last wrote a post to keep you updated on my life in Oman. During this time I managed to go to more beautiful place and document it for you through my pictures.

Sunset trail run

The above picture is the view from a small peak overlooking Wadi Kabir in the Southeast of Muscat, easy to reach from the main road in a short run/hike with just a short stretch of “climbing” to the top.

White wadis

In some of the wadis you will find white pools filled with sulfurous sediment after longer periods without rainfalls. The water of these pools is said to have beneficial effects for the skin.

Green wadis

A bit further down the same wadi everything was green. The landscape is everchanging and within a few hundred meters everything can change to the opposite.

Camping under the stars

Two things that are standing out are the darkness, as in absence of light pollution in the night sky, and the abundance of marine life. For astrophotography Oman is an absolute paradise, I am very much looking forward to the end of my stay here, when the center of the milkyway will be visible again. In combination with the bioluminescence of the plankton, it can create some amazing effects.

Moonrise, bioluminescence and stars

Last but not least the marine life: it is amazing to see how intact most of the coral reefs here are. And who does not love to dive with turtles?

To conclude this post, Oman is a paradise for photography of all sorts, and especially for landscape and nature. I will conclude this with a picture of one of my sunrise hikes in the surroundings of Muscat, and a dump of some more pictures I took during the last month. I wish you all a beautiful holiday season and a happy new year!
