After our time in Siargao it was time to move on to the next destination: Cebu. While we originally did not plan to stay on this island, we realized that there were no direct flights from Siargao to Coron. So in order to make the best out of this forced stop, we decided to add a some time.

Our first stop, and base while on Cebu, was the small town of Moalboal on the west coast of the island. The beach there is know for having a beautiful sardine – run just off shore. You can reach it from the public beach in the town by swimming out and snorkelling.
Our second stop, and the main reason for the stopover in Cebu, was Oslob in the south-east. Oslob is known for the marine reserve which allows you to swim with whale sharks. In the past, the local fishermen hunted these gentle giants. With a ban on the hunt, the village turned its efforts on conservation. Scheduled feeding times every morning attract these giants to approach the shore where people can swim among them. While this is an amazing experience, mind that it is getting more and more popular with both tourists and locals. If you are still keen, make sure to arrive very early.
