Finally I found time to write a post. A lot happened since my last one, for example:
- The Lost Mills
- Foolmoon Classics Crans
- SUP Tour Biel
- SUP Tour Zürich
- Sunset Race around Nidau
- SUP Tour Luzern
So lets go through this one by one:
The Lost Mills:
This years Lost Mills race in Brombach was different in many ways. Unlike last year it was not part of the EuroTour, so a lot of the top international guys were racing at San Sebastian that weekend, But teams Mistral and 425Pro brought a lot of Tahitian power to this small Bavarian lake.
Everyone expected it to be the all flat glassy race like it has always been, but not this year. The weather played crazy and we had a good chop at the stretch parallel to the dam. I decided to race the 21.5″ sprint anyway, because of its enormous advantage in the upwind sections. After a great start I lost the first draft train in the wake of the safety boat and struggled to keep the pace in the sidewind part. In the second part of the race I managed to catch up a lot and finish in 13th place. My best result at an international race so far.
Foolmoon Classics Crans:
Really cool race with an epic atmosphere every year. I participated in both longdistance and technical race and managed to win both in front of Peter and Andi.
SUP Tour Biel
A special guest showed up in Biel, Kai Lenny, so we got very excited to finally get to fight a pro on our own terms. But then he wouldn’t race us, so Andi and I made it another fight between us. Kudos to Tom for hanging on one full lap!
SUP Tour Zürich
My home race, and like last year the program allowed for us to participate in both the long and the short distance race. The long distance race was the closest Andi came to beating me so far.
In the short race I managed to pull away at the first buoy and open a good gap to avoid a 500m sprint to the finish.
Sunset Race around Nidau
Monday evening after the Race in Zurich I drove to Biel on invitation from Marc to do a lap in the GPS race around Nidau for his Team (Oldfuture). I was really lucky to finish my lap before a major front hit the town, but with quite good conditions I managed to beat the best times so far and score a 28.59. Now I have to wait until the 2nd of September to see if my time has lasted.
SUP Tour Luzern
The fourth stop of the SUP Tour Schweiz was the race in Lucerne. This race is always an entertaining event, because of its beach start and the simultaneous lake crossing of the swimmers.
As you can see my corner – all the way to the right – was quite a mess. Nevertheless I got clear water and had another interesting battle against Andi. It was only after about two thirds of the race that I managed to pull away after a buoy turn.
With my victory in Lucerne I managed to reach the full amount of points possible for the overall rankings of this years SUP Tour Schweiz. With one race in Thun remaining I am looking forward to conclude this season with one last good result and one hell of a party.
Ah and I did a Triathlon:
Fördetriathlon Kiel, 17th overall in 2h19 (olympic distance)
