Time flies!

When you leave everything, knowing that you will be gone for six month, it seems like a long time. But with everything being new, and especially after my turbulent start, the first weeks flew by quickly. After around six weeks it is time for an update on my stay so far, and together with that a picture dump…

A wonderful place for taking pictures in Muscat itself is the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque during sunset and with the full moon rising.

One of my first trips further away from the city was to the beautiful valley of Wadi Bani Kharus, a narrow Wadi leading up to the flanks of Jabal Akhdar.

In some of the larger pools of Wadi Bani Kharus you can even go for a refreshing swim.

Another Wadi, that I visited had less water, but an impressive sinkhole. Imagine the immense force of water necessary to shape this.

Probably the most iconic place I visited so far are the Safa Pools. Out in the desert between Ibri and al-Ain is a place where immense dunes meet rainwater pools. From the top of dunes, which takes quite an effort to climb them, you have an impressive view towards sunrises and sunsets:

To set a contrast to the desert I will end this post with my recent trip to the Daymaniat Islands. These small islands are located around 20 kilometers off the coast of Seeb and a multitude of tour operators organise snorkeling and diving trips on a daily basis.

This was it for the time being. I hope I will find the time soon to go on more adventures and get back to you with more pictures.
